Derrick had some impressive successes as a teen
bodybuilder, but this Florida resident, who moved
there from New York in 1995, took some time off from
competing. Lucky for us, we found Derrick as he was
making a comeback to the sport. Now 28, we saw
Derrick competing at the 2006 NPC Sunshine Classic
Bodybuilding Championships in Florida, where he took
3rd place in a very competitive light heavyweight
class. But to us, Derrick was the standout of the
show. He placed 4th in the light heavyweight
division in 2001 and placed 5th in 1999. He also won
the Teen Men's Overall and 1st light heavyweight
titles at the 1998 South Florida District
Bodybuilding contest. He is extremely handsome and
has an amazing physique. We photographed Derrick
both after the prejudging and the next day near his
home. Derrick stands 5'6" tall and packs 198 lbs. of
lean hard muscle on that frame, with 19 1/2" arms
and a 32" waist. In the off-season, he bulks up to
between 225 and 235 lbs. Derrick wants to continue
competing to establish a presence and is looking for
sponsorship. His is also very interested in
exploring fitness modeling opportunities. We are
